I hate the climate change, because that’s the time when children … and adults fall sick. But this is the season of non-stop marriages as well. And as you all would agree…the more the marriages, the more dresses you’ll need…rite.
This dress was made for my daughter. She absolutely loves such dresses. Actually hana’s baapa’s (father) neice bought a dress recently. When hana saw that dress, her instant reaction was “wow…I also want the same dress”. But I wasn’t keen on buying it. Instead I tried to make one for her. And this is the end product.
The top is made of velvet fabric. The skirt is made of net fabric, brocade lining and cotton lining. Hope you all liked my attempt. Would love to have your feedback.
What would you do with a pile of scrap fabrics? Umm… Quilters would say that they’d quilt. But since I’m not into quilting, I made a patchwork skirt.
This was the pile I was talkin’ about.
Cut all the fabrics according to ur measurements and lay-out how you want it to be, according to tiers. Mine was 7″ x 8″.
Join all the longer edge and connect all the tiers. You’ll get number of detailed tutorials in the world-wide-web.
A super twirly patchwork skirt is ready without spending any extra money.
My daughter just don’t feel like getting out of it.
I hope you all liked it. Would love to hear from you all…
Aah….months passed by…and my sewing blog has been sitting idol…lamenting y no one is turning towards me…well…first of all a biiig sorry to my blog 🙂
It’s not that i didn’t sew all these months..but was not able to click any pics and post. So here i’m uploaded a simple white skirt that i had sewn for my daughter.
White is the colour of peace. So here i’m restarting my blog peacefully. I’ve made this skirt with exposed seam. And for all those exposed seams, i’ve done a rolled hemming with red thread. I thought of making it fully white. But my mom thought full white would be boring and so i gave a tint of red.
I’ve made this skirt with the help of a new companion in my sewing studio and that is none other that my Ruffler Foot. Once u figure it out, its very easy to use. But at times its annoying coz my needle comes off at regular interval. Is it normal ?
Obsessed with sewing… Yeah really. When I started sewing, I never thought I would be obsessed with it. It has completely got into my nerves. There are lots of cute dress ideas popping in my mind, but I know it’ll take a lot of time to shape up.
Re-fashioning…. Yes, refashioning is one of favourite hobbies. We all have dresses that we might’ve worn only a few times or maybe worn a million times (but the dress is still in good condition). We wouldn’t like to lose our favourite dress in any way, would you? What I do is, I try to refashion it for my daughter. She is such a sweetheart that she wears, whatever I ask her to wear.
This is a dress that I wore only once. I loved the print but I didn’t like the shape of the dress. To be more precise, it didn’t suit me at all. But since I liked the print, I didn’t want to give it away either. So I made a full skirt out of it for hana. She loved it and even I loved the way it turned out. Everyone appreciated me for my attempt and I was just so HAPPY.
Since it’s a skirt, it definitely needs to have a top. And luckily I had a matching fabric in hand and made a pin-tucked top to go with the skirt. Hope you all liked my attempt. Would love to hear from you.
